The platform that takes care of people.
It understands what you actually need.
生きる → to live
Ikiru is Kurosawa's 1952 film about a man who spent his entire career being useful — and then discovered, in his final days, that he had never actually lived. The moment he found his purpose, he became undeniable. People could feel it.
This is not a brand about productivity. It is not a brand about faith. It is a platform built around the one question underneath all other questions: what do you actually need?
生きる / ikiru / to live, to be alive, to exist fullyI didn't leave the pastoral work. I translated it.
Samuel walked out of his pastoral internship to become a founder. What followed was a real drop — cluttered mind, lost identity, the silence of the desert. What came out the other side wasn't a startup pitch. It was a question: why does no one actually ask what people need?
Every system — every platform, every business, every institution — is optimised around what you've already clicked, bought, and searched. Nobody goes deeper. Nobody asks. Ikiru is the answer to that gap.
The pastoral function didn't end when he left the building. It found a new form: a platform that meets people at their real needs, not their presenting ones.
The founding insight
The presenting need is never the real need. A person who wants a gym membership might need belonging. A person buying productivity tools might need rest. Ikiru goes one layer deeper — every time.
Five principles that run through every piece of content, every product, every conversation.
Not productivity. The full, embodied experience of living with drive, meaning, and presence.
A presenting need is never the real need. We go underneath every surface question.
Not charity. Serious service. You deserve to be met at your actual level, not a safe version of it.
You are the designer of your life. Every tool built here returns agency to you.
The founder lives it publicly. The method only works if someone has already run it on their own life.
The 10-part founding story of Ikiru — told from the inside. The high, the drop, the desert, and the twist at the end that changes everything.
Every platform you use is built around what you've already done. Ikiru is built around what you actually need. You come in with a problem — we surface the real need underneath — and match you with businesses that are here to genuinely serve it.
Founding community — open now
Before the platform launches, 100 people will shape what it becomes. Not beta testers. Co-architects.
Needs Discovery. A deeply curious process that surfaces what you actually need — not what the algorithm predicts you'll click.
Vetted Businesses. Only brands that genuinely serve real needs earn a place here. No ad spend. No demographic targeting.
A founding community. The platform is being built with 100 people whose real needs will define what it becomes.
No algorithm required. If you're a business that truly serves, you won't need to fight for attention. Your people will find you.
